It seems the Police arrested a man dressed as Pudsey the Bear, and carrying a yellow bucket in Chichester High Street on Children in Need Day. The man still dressed as a bear (he had no other clothes with him) appeared at Chichester Court, where the Judge fined him, ordering those present to pay his fine by opening their wallets and placing money in his bucket.

This well-meaning act by the Judge backfired when the bear absconded with the bucket.

A Spokesman for Chichester police said "we aren't looking for anyone in connection with the event."
