Overhead view of some of my lots from Barter Street

Various bits and bobs by Cyber Overheadview

Barter Street is part of a set of new lots built in the style of some shops in Shrewsbury - loosely based on the buildings around Tanner's Wine Merchants.

It's terrain paint, so it comes under ground cover. You have to fiddle around with the terrain tools a bit: dig down 4 clicks for the pool itself, then raise the borders of the pool by at least another click all the way around. Then, once you have a pool with a depth of at least 5 clicks, your Sims can climb down into it or dive off the diving board and they'll swim. Need to use move_objects on to place the board and ladder but no cheats needed when the Sims swim.

You have to check your Sims can get out of it though, or they'll swim forever.

Been experimenting with boolprop again - I looked at a tutorial on Mike's designed to make humpback bridges but I couldn't get it to work, so I adapted the 'curved roof' method (also at Mike's) to make my own humpback bridge. cheers

Thanks - I'd been playing around with a curved roof tutorial at Mike's and wondered what'd happen if I just left the roof tiles on. If you look at the top of the roof I made a pattern with the white short wall. If you use the coloured concrete floors it looks really cool, but it didn't seem to fit with this particular one.

Working on a huge lot at the moment, which I planned yesterday in a restaurant while waiting for my lunch. It's not coming on too badly, either. Will post when done. Wink

Ok, the rules are simple:

Find an image of a famous painting online and post it here. Recreate teh painting as closely as you can using TS2. Examples or themes could include:

Monet's Garden
Munch's The Scream
Van Gogh's The White House at Night

Or any of your own, of course! Razz

Have fun!

Entries will be judged and results announced 25th May 2007 ~now closed~. Winner receives custom rank name of their choice plus an award graphic to add to their sig.

Useful questions...

Yes you may use Paint Shop / Photoshop / any other image editor as long as the main bulk of the image is created using The Sims.
Custom downloads can be used, as with most Simming competitions.
The painting doesn't have to be one of the great well-known paintings but you will need to post a copy of the original image with your entry.

Here's an example:

Various bits and bobs by Cyber Homage_to_monet

It's based on several paintings of Monet's garden - he painted the same scene many times at different times of the year. I've used Paint Shop to add an art media effect and a mosaic border with a gold frame.

There are endless paintings and links to various Monet images, so I'm posting this link instead of one image.

... And yes, the bridge needs some work. Still, it was fun to build!
