You might have a problem if you don't have OFB or Seasons - the windows come from the Seasons EP. Don't know if you can work around that...

Grrr... couldn't work around the windows apparently... but just before
my computer crashed, I noticed that the property costs more than 2
billion simoleans! Does it cost that much in everyone's game or was it
just my not having OFB thing that did that?

Shouldn't cost that much - maybe it was the OFB thing - so has your game crashed completely? If so I'm really sorry, but I'm pretty sure it says you needed all the EPs (not the Stuff packs though) to use the house.

I've been having issues with the game recently anyway. I need to do some serious updating of my computer. It didn't do a permanent re-install type crash, it just shut down like it always does when I try to make it load a house I don't have the right stuff for.

I might clean the house with the Sims 2 clean pack installer and see if I can work it then.

Worth a try - what will you do about the windows?

Don't know yet... Sometimes if I use the clean installer and SimPE together, I can pull out individual pieces of houses if I know what exactly the problem is... There's no real process that I can think of coherently, I kinda just make copies along the way until I get what I want... since you've told me it's the windows, I might be able to delete those parts and worry about the flashing blue lights when the game loads. But I've never tried it with windows (done it lots with objects), those may be weirdly essential or something so it might not work... I'm out of town for the weekend, but I'll let you know how it goes if you want... I REALLY want that house! I'm making a fairy tale and it's absolutely perfect for one of the key families.

Well, the windows are exclusive to Seasons and I seem to remember using a piece of stage block to make the stairs (exclusive to OFB) - how about if I make a version of the house with different windows and a different staircase? You might be able to use Clean Pack and SimPE to adapt that for your game. Just a thought. I'll try it later. Enjoy your weekend away!

You may need to still use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer to play around with what's in there, but basically I've removed anything specific to Seasons or OFB.

Changes are:

• outside wall is now the grey ancient stone wall
  
• double windows are now the red La Fenetre windows with matching shutters
  
• standard staircase
  
• patio seats and table removed

EDIT: MTS2 are still obviously having trouble with their servers - I'm on a pretty fast connection but it's taking ages to download this set (only 1.9MB).

Hey, thanks, Cyber! My game has gotten really tempermental, crashing at the slightest provocation, but I'll test out the house as you've made it the next time I play. I never did work out the other house because I was too busy deleting downloads (I got rid of more than 250 files, it was traumatic ).

But I'm trying to do Liz's competition so I open the game pretty frequently these days. Maybe I'll give it a go tomorrow.

The loss of one's beloved CC can be very traumatic.

It wouldn't install with the regular Sims installer, so I opened it with the Clean Installer and took out some other stuff before I installed it... and my ocmputer still crashed. I think I'm doomed to not being able to use the file until I get those expansion packs.

But thanks again for trying!

Day 2 of CC missing: Better than the first, but I nearly didn't make it when my favorite bikini was gone...

Yes, I think the time has come to get those EPs. You can't hold out forever. :pirat:
