For me...

Best Film: Scrooge (Alastair Sim version - top-notch)
Video clips here if interested, still here if not. Almost the entire film, really.

Best Song: Merry Christmas Everybody - Slade (it's Noddy, what more can I say?)
Video clip here for those of you who don't know it.
That would be for those of you who live outside the UK, or those who do live in the UK, but in some sort of cocoon.

Best Story: A Christmas Carol
Downloadable version here - public domain rocks!

I liked Home Alone - I love the scene where he's in the New York store (is it Macy's?) - I just think of how amazing it must be to be standing there on Christmas Eve. But then I guess that our view of an American Christmas Eve is as stereotyped as the British one. When was the last time you strolled down a snowy Dickensian street with carol singers on every corner and jovial town criers crying out compliments of the season?

It's called 'It Was on A Starry Night' - I had to play it for the infant kids to sing to on Friday morning. Ahhh... cute. It's a Language, Timothy! to play, though, as it's in a very alien key for me (too many flats, in my opinion).
