How has your day been?

Mine went a little like this...

Finally got my preparation day, which I spent planning, assessing, marking and playing around with our school website... I finally found a way to create Flash movies really quickly from Quicktime files (children's work) so that my kids can watch them at home without taking ages to download them. Spent ages trying to sort out a dodgy laptop (for which no-one wishes to admit responsibility) and then came home to look up a medical condition for one of the kids and work on planning the Battle of the Bands. Made a cool poster but then realised not everyone would have the cool font I used to make it so I made a Flash file out of it (don't have Acrobat). E-mailed my chairperson from the arts committee and then came here... Phew.

Mine was ok
Haven't talked to Matt for 3 days though so I'm kinda down right now..

Funny you should say that... Matt seems to have gone off-radar here...

My day so far smells of wee and poo. I got up extra early to record our choir's performance on the radio, having tested my PC's recording settings etc. last night, and the whole thing seemed to record without a hitch, until I came to play it back and I found I only had the first 5 mins of a 20 minute broadcast. To which I say: pzzzzzzzzzzzzffffffffffffffffftttttttttttttttt! Grr.

I had a really really great weekend. Mainly Saturday when I went grocery shopping I got surrounded and talked to by a whole bunch of people and I felt loved. Plus this guy I'm crushing on (You know the one with a girlfriend) took off of work early to sit with me until my ride showed up. We didn't really get to talk because one of the Security Guards showed up and she and I started to talk and you know how girls can gab . Sunday was also another great day, My roommate told me I looked beautiful today and he made me lunch that will last me for at least the next 3 days and he was just really sweet. He knows I'm in a lot of pain and so I am a little testy with him and he's taking it like a pro. I feel so bad too because I try not to take it out on him it's not his fault and I've gotten to where I'll say one snappy thing and then apologize right after and force myself to smile and be in a cheery mood. It's hard some days with the pain and now the problems with breathing and my hand feeling so tight I can barely move it. But I'm not meaning to complain. Mentally I am so happy right now. It's great. And what's up with Matt? Do we need to storm into his house and be all like "WTF?!" I'm so up to that because I think it would be very very funny! Don't be down Amanda, I'm here for you and I'm sure Matt has a very good reason to not be around. Or atleast he better because if he doesn't we may have to spank him a little.... Or something . That sounded so dirty so now I'm going to go hide!

Yes, bit of a Freudian slip there with the whole 'spanking Matt' thing. I'm sorry you're in pain at the moment, Molly, I really wish there was more that could be done about that, but at the same time I'm glad that you're mentally very happy in yourself. You go, girl!

And yes, let's storm Matt's house, ninja-style.

I got in to the school.

I just have to set up an advisors meeting and also get them to find my SAT scores and still I'm worried about transportation. And thank you for your concern about the pain. If I so chose I could be hopped up on pain meds but yeah, I don't really feel comfortable with that option at all. I think this winter is going to be hell on my body but I'm not going to let that get to me! We have Halloween coming up then Thanksgiving and then.... Yule Time! SANTA!

I swear I do not have thoughts of spanking Matt....

Today was kind of strange - I got injured at work after the piano rolled over my foot. The pain has only just stopped throbbing now but it's made a weird pain shoot up my leg instead. I spent the day teaching in stockinged feet.

It happened just before I had to do a whole school assembly and I had to have first aid, then go back to the hall to play a couple of hymns. I couldn't put my shoes back on, so I had to play and then walk out across the hall in front of the entire school with two ice packs stuffed inside my sock. Some of the kids must have thought I had two extra toes.

Today was the end of term - we finished school at 1.30pm. Yay!

Spent the morning practising for a carol service between our school and the one next door. Played the piano until my wrists felt like they were going to give way. Then got the choir together for a few words about a concert we're doing tomorrow, finally opened my presents from the kids. Much chocolate, but some alcoholic beverages, too. w00t!

i always loved the last day of term, christmas partys, singing carols and no school work.

Yesterday was my last day too!
Yay!!!!!! *dances*

So-so... getting ready to go back to work on Monday.

Redrafted (again) a bid for funding from another school to try and get a huge multimedia projection and PA system for the Hall; typed a letter about a Live Arts Festival I help to organise; went out for a short drive and bought a couple of nice warm jumpers; checked the oil etc. in my car; marked some Science work on forces and boat building (actually more fun than you'd think - we built boats, photographed them and put them in a fish tank full of water, then added marbles till they sank) and am now posting about my day here whilst eating a takeaway.

Today I've been to Birmingham's Science Museum, ThinkTank... as part of a reccie for a school trip next half term. Amazing stuff.

It's been a long but reasonable Sunday - drove Mum to church this morning (nice morning drive, actually, so no complaints there), went for a coffee, picked Mum up, saw Lipsy's mum! Played Frets on Fire for a bit, had lunch (mmm... chicken), filled the petrol tank for the week, cleaned the car (alright, the car wash did it, but I paid, dammit); marked 30-odd test papers (all reading tests which are evil), panicked about my RE books only to find that there were only about 4 I hadn't marked already (so a waste of time and energy lugging those home), had a looooong soak in the bath (ahhhh) and typed up some planning documents. Now I'm going to get myself a glass of red wine and plan tomorrow's assembly. Joy.

Today was ok, went to ASDA to get salad stuff for lunches this week, also got some curry for lunch...yum!

Then went up to my big sis's for the afternoon - her puppy was 'fixed' on Fri and we wanted to see how she was doing. She's as mental as ever and seems fine, so that's all good.

Got home, read some Lost Boys fanfic and then had soup for tea...watched some season 1 Buffy and then did some ironing while Caboose did tomorrows lunches.

Off to bed now, got a meeting at 9am tomorrow...sigh.

Is it just me or has this week seemed to be longer? Even though we've had a Bank Holiday, this week has really dragged for me and most of the people I work with.

Any thoughts?

well its probably due to the nice weather, and being in work all day thinking, you know i really want to be at home now relaxing in the garden with a ice cold drink.

its been long for me because i been up till 3am every night due to some insomnia again

Insomnia stinks. I've found recently, though, that if I write down anything I know I haven't dealt with yet, I can get to sleep more easily. I keep a cheap notepad and pencil by my bed now. It really works!

i guess the main thing tha is bothering me is that its been 6 years since i last felt a passionate embrace what the future holds for me and if i will ever find employment due to past health problems.
at the time being i am finding it hard to shake these thoughts.

but i think my biggest problem is i am stuck in a awkward pattern right now, just need to work my way out of it into a more sensibal one

I saw someone famous today... Jim Lea (bassist / violinist formerly of Slade) walked past me while I was out shopping! I don't normally get starstruck but that was a true double-take moment.

Today so far has been teh weird...

1) Saw my old car parked outside my local supermarket. *Sniff*
2) Saw my grandparents' former neighbours in said supermarket.
3) Saw my old driving instructor on the way home.

Joy, i got around to instaling sims2 on my sisters old laptop.
ok so it takes a age to install, 2o mins right now and only just got the core game installed, and might not play smothly on max settings, but at least there is no anoyying vista causing unplayable glitchs.


now the only thing to get in the way is my short attention span
